Empuls by Xoxoday
As a product designer, I was involved in shaping it from the ground up. It's more than just software; it's an all-in-one platform designed to boost employee engagement.
Project Overview

Empuls is a B2B SaaS subscription-based employee engagement platform developed by Xoxoday. As the Lead Product Designer at Xoxoday, I played a pivotal role in shaping Empuls from its inception. This case study delves into the design process, the challenges tackled, and the impact achieved through the Empuls web app.
The Challenge: Scattered Engagement Solutions
Many companies struggle with employee engagement, often relying on a patchwork of tools for recognition programs, internal communication, and goal alignment. This fragmented approach creates confusion, reduces participation, and hinders a positive work environment.
Introducing Empuls: A Unified Toolbox
Empuls was envisioned as a one-stop solution to streamline employee engagement. My design approach focused on these core functionalities:
Communication: Facilitate seamless communication across teams and departments, fostering a connected workforce.
Alignment: Ensure everyone understands company goals and values, driving a sense of shared purpose.
Empowerment: Provide employees with the resources and tools to excel in their roles, leading to increased productivity.
Recognition: Celebrate achievements and milestones, boosting employee morale and motivation.
Building the Foundation: The Empuls Design System
Early in the project, I spearheaded the creation of a comprehensive design system for Empuls. This system established a standardized set of UI components, interaction patterns, typography, and color palettes.
Benefits of the Design System:
Consistency: A unified user experience across all functionalities and modules.
Efficiency: Streamlined design and development process.
Scalability: Simplified future iterations and feature additions.
Beyond Empuls: A Company-Wide Design Language
The success of the Empuls design system led to its adoption as the company-wide design language for Xoxoday. This ensured a cohesive brand experience across all internal and external products.
Mentoring and Collaboration
As Lead Product Designer, my role extended beyond just design execution. I actively mentored junior designers, providing guidance on UI/UX best practices and facilitating a collaborative design environment within the organization.
Tackling Design Challenges
Designing a platform to cater to diverse user needs presented a unique challenge. Here are two key hurdles addressed during the design process:
Balancing information density: The platform houses a wealth of information. Creating a visually clear and uncluttered interface while ensuring efficient information retrieval was paramount.
Personalized user experience: Catering to the needs of employees across various hierarchies and departments required a flexible and intuitive user interface that could adapt to individual workflows.
The Impact of Empuls
Empuls has empowered companies to:
Increase Employee Engagement: Foster a more connected and engaged workforce, leading to higher productivity and satisfaction.
Improve Communication: Streamline internal communication, promoting transparency and collaboration.
Align Teams: Ensure everyone is on the same page, working towards shared goals and objectives.
Recognize Achievements: Motivate employees by acknowledging their contributions, creating a culture of appreciation.
Conclusion
Empuls stands as a testament to the power of user-centered design. The platform's success not only demonstrates the effectiveness of a unified approach to employee engagement, but also underscores the value of a robust design system. As a Lead Product designer, I am proud to have played a leading role in its creation and implementation.
This case study serves as a snapshot of my contribution to the Empuls project. It highlights my ability to design for complex challenges, lead and mentor junior designers, and create successful user experiences within a B2B SaaS environment.
